electrical training ALLIANCE/VEEP
9 week pre-apprenticeship that will result in acceptance in a registered apprenticeship at a location of service member's choosing across the country. Curriculum includes 5 core courses used in electrical apprenticeship across the country. Schedule is 6 weeks of virtual classroom attendance which can be done anywhere with internet access, 4 hours per day 0630-1030 pacific time, followed by 3 weeks of in person training in Commerce, CA. Curriculum includes hands on applications, conduit bending, CalOSHA, first aid/CPR. Participants must travel, house and feed themselves during the training, GI Bill is not applicable to this course but will become available once the apprenticeship begins. Training in VEEP is only scheduled after a guarantee of apprenticeship acceptance is signed.
ABOUT THE JOB
Apprentice Inside Electrician (O-Net 47-2111.00). The Electrical Apprentice is responsible for assisting journeyman electricians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power, lighting, controls and other electrical equipment in commercial and industrial sites. This includes learning to read blueprints, installing wiring systems, bending conduit, and adhering to safety standards. An apprenticeship of 8000 hours of OJT plus related classroom training results in the status of journey level worker and credentials recognized across the country for employment as an electrician.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist journeyman electricians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power, lighting, controls and other electrical equipment in commercial and industrial sites.
- Learn to read blueprints.
- Install wiring systems.
- Bend conduit.
- Adhere to safety standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 9 week pre-apprenticeship training completion.
- Ability to attend 6 weeks of virtual classroom and 3 weeks of in-person training.
- Ability to travel, house, and feed oneself during the in-person training phase.
- Understanding of hands-on applications, conduit bending, CalOSHA, first aid/CPR.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY
Also open to veterans up to 5 years post separation.
