GIS Technician
The GIS Team is a vital component of our land use consulting business. The person in this role will be responsible for the collecting, analyzing, and managing of spatial data related to land use, zoning, infrastructure, and environmental considerations for land development projects. It is crucial that the person in this role has the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and has a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
ABOUT THE JOB
Field Work/Data Collection – Meet clients, soil scientists, surveyors and engineers on project sites to: o With accuracy and consistency, collect, compile, and maintain geospatial data for land development projects o Identify critical land development components o Detect any possible development challenges o Engage with team members and clients to address sensitive planning details and processes. o Take notes and document important planning details necessary for GIS mapping work and collaborative meetings o Collect data from field surveys, public records, and other sources.Communicating & Reporting – o Create field work reports with data and information discovered in the field to present during weekly staff meetings o Properly document information in our company’s project management software o Participate in cross-functional team meetings as necessary GIS Mapping & Analysis – Utilize GIS software (ArcGIS Pro) to create and update sketches, maps, spatial databases, and data layers for land development projects. o Perform spatial analysis to support site planning, zoning, environmental impact assessments, and infrastructure design. o Geoprocess, digitize and analyze information/data gathered during site visits and staff meetings. o Provide GIS-based analyses for land use planning, zoning, property boundary identification, and infrastructure planning. o Create and manage project shapefiles and feature data classes
RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge or interest of local, state, and federal regulations related to land use and development is preferred.
- Familiarity with basic GIS software programming is a plus.
