The Product Approval & Compliance Coordinator II role analyzes and interprets state and federal laws, regulations, bulletins and, determines appropriate action steps needed and initiates activities necessary to effect compliance. Creates and drafts state special versions of policies, riders, applications and, arranges to file necessary documentation with State Insurance Departments to obtain required approval(s). Resolves situations involving objections from State Insurance Departments; redrafts forms when necessary and re-files with State Insurance Department; presents and negotiates Company positions through written and/or phone presentations or by personal visits.
ABOUT THE JOB
What you will do in this role:• Product filing; including negotiations with the state.• Multiple annual and ad hoc state and Federal reporting.• Advice and Guidance to our internal partners. • Analyze and interpret state and federal laws; including updating internal resource materials as necessary.• Research regarding government legislation and industry information relating to all coverage forms and procedures; responds to all inquiries relating to forms and business practices and conducts legislative and regulatory research. Job Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree required.• 4 - 6 years insurance experience with a variety of health, life or property and casualty products or general insurance industry.• Prior experience with analyzing, judging and interpreting contract language and a general knowledge of insurance laws and regulations is preferred. • Must demonstrate strong ability to exercise sound judgement, critical thinking and sound decision-making skills.• Self-motivated and strong desire to achieve results.• Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the self-confidence and negotiation communication skills necessary for negotiations inside and outside the Company to assure that approval and compliance activities receive the required priority. • Strong functional knowledge using Microsoft Office Suite.
