Cooper Marine is looking for driven individuals who seek to add value to the Tug and Barge Industry. The 12 week training program will prepare you to take on the roll of deckhand on a towing vessel. We believe that transitioning service members have all the characteristics we strive to instill in our employees. This skillbridge program will enter participants into the pipeline of becoming a pilot on one of our towing vessels in the first several years of their career. Each participant has the potential to earn full time employment and be on track to a fulfilling career.
ABOUT THE JOB
Cooper Marine Deckhands perform all types of jobs aboard our vessels and barges. Work schedule and day to day tasks include:14 days on/7 days off scheduleStanding watch > 2 - 6 hour watches on linehauls, 1 – 12 hour watch on fleet boatsMaking and breaking tow (barges)General upkeep of the interior/exterior of vesselsMaintenance on all the machinery aboard the vesselWith flexible work schedules and opportunities to quickly grow within the company, becoming a mariner with Cooper Marine is an extremely rewarding career path.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform all types of jobs aboard our vessels and barges
- Work on a 14 days on/7 days off schedule
- Stand watch which includes 2 - 6 hour watches on linehauls and 1 – 12 hour watch on fleet boats
- Make and break tow (barges)
- General upkeep of the interior/exterior of vessels
- Maintenance on all the machinery aboard the vessel
QUALIFICATIONS
- Able to lift/push/pull/carry 50 pounds
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
