Latent Print Processing Analyst

Candidates for this and every DoD SkillBridge internship opportunity with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are able to intern for 180, 120, and 90 days and MUST be at least 11 MONTHS away from (outside of) separation. Why 11 months? We are able to host SkillBridge interns for their final 180, 120, and/or 90 days on active-duty depending on the individual service-member’s situation. We use the time prior to their finite internship dates to complete our required HR actions to include getting them in front of hiring managers, having interviews conducted, selection decisions being made, “Qualifications Reviews” successfully completed on their resumes clearly demonstrating that they have the required experience, etc. for the positions for which they are being considered, along with a 3 to 5 month (on average) full CBP Background Investigation (BI) that MUST be completed prior to internship start dates.Latent print processing analysts have opportunities in laboratory settings including, but not limited to: crime scene management, evidence handling and collection, inventory, latent print processing, photography, and report writing. A Latent Print Processing Analyst assists in providing fast and reliable forensic services relative to the assigned department. These duties may fall under the following programs: budget, purchasing, facilities, quality control, property, policies, health and safety, security, data bases, SharePoint, and training.In these positions, you will strengthen the Department's ability to protect the homeland by becoming a valuable member of a team of forensic professionals. Your job will include:• Assisting current Border Patrol Agents with crime scene response and evidence collection and handling. • Assisting current Border Patrol Latent Print Analysts with inventory of evidence and supplies, latent print processing and photography. • Assisting with laboratory records management program • Developing research projects to advance latent print processing techniques on trouble surfaces and prepare research articles for possible publication• Assisting branch chief with policy review • Attending regional forensic and latent print study groups to network and assist with multi-agency events.

ABOUT THE JOB

A Latent Print Processing Analyst assists in providing fast and reliable forensic services relative to the assigned department. • Must be at least 11 months away from separation to qualify for the DoD SkillBridge internship.
