The goal of VA SkillBridge is to expand the DOD SkillBridge concept and capability across the VA enterprise. At VBA Comms, VA SkillBridge implementation objectives include: Establish a program that develops a pipeline of VA-trained Public Affairs Specialists Provide a structured training/internship opportunity that supports transitioning Service members’ career goals and civilian transition Support transitioning Service members in pursuing careers with VA This will fill a current gap in Public Affairs Specialist staffing; SkillBridge can be fully implemented at VBA Comms by end of Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23); and SkillBridge links to VA senior leadership’s national goals and strategies.

ABOUT THE JOB

Public Affairs Specialist Media relations – preparing, coordinating, facilitating media queries, facilitating media events, sentiment analysis Planning – creating of communications strategies and plans, development of public affairs guidance, development of evaluation reports, research of VBA programs and initiatives, coordination for execution of communications plans Digital Media – identifying digital distribution vehicles of intended strategic messaging, facilitating content creation that is contextual to the digital distribution platform, monitoring digital engagement, develop sentiment analysis reports related to VBA on digital platforms

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Media relations – preparing, coordinating, facilitating media queries, facilitating media events, sentiment analysis

• Must be Duty MOS qualified in the service specific's public affairs MOS.
