Kansas City MASS Services LLC Construction Internship

The internship participant will be responsible for working with wood to build, repair structures, and other tasks, and possibly select and source appropriate materials depending on project needs. Additional possible duties include calculating quotes, interacting with clients, and discussing remodeling and ground-up construction projects. To be successful in this position, one must be hardworking, reliable, and have good communication and organizational skills.
ABOUT THE JOB
KC MASS Service is in a growth pattern, whereas we anticipate hiring a successful program participant into a full-time carpentry position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with wood to build and repair structures
- Selecting and sourcing appropriate materials depending on project needs
- Calculating quotes
- Interacting with clients
- Discussing remodeling and ground-up construction projects
QUALIFICATIONS
- Understand directions and read blueprints/maps
- Solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately
- Properly care for and use tools of the trade
- A thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods
- Work well as part of a team
- Problem-solving skills
- Education in construction-related school, technical college, or apprenticeship program, or at least three years of experience
- Ability to stand, climb, bend, and kneel for prolonged periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Safely work with sharp tools or power equipment
- Work in various weather conditions and terrains
- Manual dexterity, good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY
Required Skills/Abilities: Understand directions and read blueprints/maps. Solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately. Properly care for and use tools of the trade. A thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods. Work well as part of a team. Problem-solving skills Education and Experience: Completed a construction-related school or technical college or apprenticeship program, OR at least three years of experience via on-the-job training required Physical Requirements: Prolonged period of standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling. Lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Safely work with sharp tools or power equipment. Work in various weather conditions and terrains. Have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination Travel: The participant travels to job sites within the Metropolitan Kansas City Area.

PROGRAM COST
The participant will need at least essential hand tools, costing around $100-$1000.
OTHER
The internship duration is 151 - 180 days but can possibly accommodate for fewer days; the person would perform the same work tasks as someone for up to 180 days.
