The HVAC Technician Apprentice supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems under the guidance of experienced HVAC technicians. This role is ideal for individuals beginning their HVAC career who are eager to learn technical skills, work with their hands, and grow into a fully qualified HVAC Technician.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation & Repair- Assist in installing residential and commercial HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ventilation components.- Support troubleshooting and diagnostic activities on malfunctioning HVAC systems.- Help perform system repairs such as replacing parts, cleaning components, and adjusting controls.Maintenance- Participate in preventive maintenance tasks such as filter changes, coil cleaning, testing system performance, and checking refrigerant levels.- Help document maintenance activities and identify potential issues.Safety & Compliance- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations.- Properly handle refrigerants and comply with EPA guidelines under supervision.- Maintain a clean and safe worksite.Customer Support & Professionalism- Assist senior technicians in communicating findings and recommended services to customers.- Represent the company professionally through punctuality, appearance, and respectful service.Training & Skill Development- Attend company-provided and external training sessions as required.- Work toward obtaining relevant certifications (EPA 608, NATE, etc.).QualificationsRequired- High school diploma or GED.- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various environments.- Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.Preferred- Completion of or enrollment in an HVAC trade school or apprenticeship program.- Basic understanding of electrical systems, mechanical tools, or HVAC principles.- OSHA 10 certification.Work Environment & Schedule- Typically Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings/weekends during seasonal peaks.- Work performed indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions.- Possible exposure to dust, chemicals, and loud noise.Career PathThis role is designed as a developmental position.
