The objective is to provide the intern with broad exposure to research institute operations and to the Mississippi State University campus. The intern will have opportunities to participate in university research Centers and Institutes. Intern will gain an understanding of the multi-disciplinary approach to research activities as well as collaboration opportunities with the associated academic colleges at MSU. The intern will be embedded with Research Center Directors and have the opportunity to be exposed to and contribute in the full spectrum of operations and strategic planning efforts. This will allow the intern to explore and be evaluated for job opportunities upon completion of the internship.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Research Center Associated Director or Director will establish a synergistic interaction with the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, HPC2 Center/Institute Directors and other campus organizations to contribute to strategic decisions regarding the deployment of and investment in fundamental and applied research. The Director will identify priorities for growth, outline technical strategies and oversee a highly motivated staff. The Director will also oversee research in domain areas related to their subject matter expertise. The Director will identify, engage, and support the needs of faculty, staff, and students to ensure projects related to their research are successful.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in university research Centers and Institutes.
- Gain an understanding of the multi-disciplinary approach to research activities.
- Collaborate with associated academic colleges at MSU.
- Be embedded with Research Center Directors.
- Contribute in the full spectrum of operations and strategic planning efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in any area of study.
- Preference given to degrees and backgrounds that align with one of the numerous areas of research at MSU.
- Ability to pass a background check.
