Financial Associate

The University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI) seeks a Financial Associate to aid financial planning, budgeting, and data analysis in support of institutional decision-making. This position is responsible for conducting complex financial modeling, variance analysis, and strategic planning to optimize UTSI’s financial performance.

ABOUT THE JOB

The position will assist in financial reporting and forecasting, utilizing multiple data sources and analytical tools to support the Finance Department in making data-driven decisions. This role also ensures compliance with university financial policies and external reporting requirements while continuously improving and automating existing financial processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Aid financial planning, budgeting, and data analysis in support of institutional decision-making.
• Conduct complex financial modeling, variance analysis, and strategic planning to optimize financial performance.
• Assist in financial reporting and forecasting, utilizing multiple data sources and analytical tools.
• Ensure compliance with university financial policies and external reporting requirements.
• Continuously improve and automate existing financial processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams).
• Associate’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least five years experience in an accounting or financial role.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY

Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reconciliations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams)

OTHER
