The Civil Engineer SkillBridge opportunity at Easton Utilities provides transitioning service members with hands-on experience in civil engineering within a municipal utility environment. Participants will support engineering functions related to the planning, design, and construction oversight of utility infrastructure, including electric, water, wastewater, and gas systems.Throughout the program, the trainee will engage in site investigations, assist with technical design and engineering calculations, and utilize industry-standard software to develop and review plans and specifications. The role includes exposure to project management practices such as budgeting, scheduling, permitting, and contractor coordination, as well as collaboration with internal teams, external professionals, and local agencies including the Town of Easton.Emphasis is placed on safety, attention to detail, communication, and teamwork, while reinforcing Easton Utilities’ core values of Integrity, Commitment, and Excellence. By the end of the program, participants will have developed foundational engineering and project management skills, preparing them for a transition into a full-time Civil Engineer role and progression toward professional licensure (EIT/PE).
POSITION: Civil Engineer IREPORTS TO: Engineering Department Manager JOB OBJECTIVE: To perform engineering functions for Easton Utilities’ projects including planning, design and overseeing construction and maintenance of structures and facilities. This is a full-time, exempt position. JOB REQUIREMENTS: • Must have construction experience, preferably in all utility departments. • Must have project administration skills including public relations, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to read and understand plans and specifications. • Must have a valid driver’s license. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: • Four-year college degree from an ABET accredited Engineering college and EIT required. • Must have PE within five years of hire.
