Our mission at TPWD is to manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.The purpose of this internship is to provide service members with meaningful professional development, mentorship, and training experience that supports developing your work experience to be competitive for future positions. We have a wide variety of opportunities that are available and will work to place you with a program of your choice.
TPWD offers a wide variety of opportunities, which include:State Parks (park operations/park rangers), State Park Police Officers, Fish Hatchery, Infrastructure (job order contracting/construction project management), IT (cyber security, GIS, oracle database administrator, contracting), Education and Outreach, HR, State Park Emergency Management, Wildlife Technicians, Communications (marketing, outreach, etc.), Coastal Fisheries, Support Resources (ADA program), Conservation Education, Texas Outdoor Family (camping workshops/outreach events), and more!If you are paired with a program/team, you will be provided with a virtual meeting with the program to discuss the opportunity more in detail before deciding to accept.

Locations will vary based on division and program. There are 89 state parks, 50 wildlife management areas, and the main headquarters located in Austin, TX. All opportunities will be varied based on availability of staff, location, and other internships. The opportunities will be in person. We may offer some opportunities with a hybrid option which will still require you to be located in the state of Texas and having some office days.
