This Principal Technician- Test Engineering provides advanced support for the test team across multiple technical disciplines whose main-focus is building and maintaining test fixture hardware. You will receive extensive training and mentoring from our Biotech and Medical Devices- product development team.
The Principal Technician-Test Engineer will be responsible for the following:• Build/ assemble/repair test fixture hardware for electro-mechanical medical devices• Build/assemble PCBs and cables for test fixtures• Proficient in the application of a broad set of analytical and technical tools in multiple BAYER technical discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, QA, V&V, etc.)• Collaborates at a peer level with lead engineers and is frequently sought out as an expert• Possesses the analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex, multi-faceted technical problems• May also interact with external suppliers and repair/troubleshoot test fixtures for external suppliers• Prioritize appropriately amongst multiple projects based on business needs• Source components/parts for test fixtures, PCBs and cables and from vendors as needed• Identify alternate component/parts or even vendors as needed• May participate in capital expenditure planning• Identify process improvement opportunities and share feedback with team members to create future projects• Comply with all safety, regulatory and Bayer policiesIn addition, this individual should possess the following capabilities:• Ability to make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems• Ability to build partnerships and to work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives• Ability to build strong customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions• Ability to ensure accountability and consistently achieve results, even under tough circumstancesWorking Relations: Key Contacts: Supervisor, peers, external/internal customers & other cross-functional stakeholdersQualifications:• High School Diploma/GED- Required• Associate's degree - Required or Recommended minimum: 2-year trade/military experience.• At least 3-5 years Electro-mechanical Technician experience - Required• Ability to lead/drive broad scale technical activities as defined in specific role profile Required • Familiarity with schematics for wiring & mechanical drawings• Possesses the analytical skills to independently troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex, multi-faceted technical problemsLocation:Pittsburgh, PA (O’Hara) manufacturing site
