IES Safety hires transitioning service members as Unarmed Security Officers supporting industrial, oil & gas, and commercial client sites across the Gulf region. Interns train alongside experienced officers in access control, gate operations, vehicle and personnel screening, patrol procedures, incident reporting, and emergency response coordination. Military experience in security forces, military police, guard duty, and force protection translates directly into this role. The program prepares interns for full-time placement as Security Officers upon successful completion.
Position OverviewIES Safety's Unarmed Security Officer provides access control, asset protection, and site security services for industrial, oil & gas, petrochemical, and commercial clients throughout the Gulf region. The position serves as the first line of defense in protecting personnel, equipment, and facilities by enforcing site policies, monitoring access points, and responding to security and emergency incidents. Officers work closely with client safety, operations, and emergency response teams to maintain a secure work environment.Key ResponsibilitiesControl access at gates, guard shacks, and entry points by verifying credentials, TWIC cards, badges, and visitor authorizationsConduct vehicle inspections, log entries and exits, and screen personnel and contractors entering client facilitiesPerform foot and vehicle patrols of assigned areas to detect unauthorized access, safety hazards, or suspicious activityMonitor CCTV systems, alarm panels, and access control softwareEnforce site safety, security, and PPE policies for all personnel entering controlled areasRespond to alarms, security incidents, medical emergencies, and evacuations per site protocolsDocument activities, incidents, and observations in daily activity reports and incident logsCoordinate with local law enforcement, emergency services, and client representatives during incidentsMaintain post orders, key control logs, and visitor recordsConduct lock checks, secure unattended areas, and verify that doors, gates, and barriers are functioning properlyProvide a professional, customer-service-oriented presence to employees, contractors, and visitorsQualificationsActive-duty service member within 180 days of separation, approved for SkillBridge participationHigh school diploma or equivalentU.S. citizen with no disqualifying criminal historyAbility to pass background check, drug screen, and any client-required screeningStrong observation, communication, and de-escalation skillsAbility to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods in varying weather conditionsProficiency with basic computer systems for reporting and access control logsValid driver's licenseTWIC card preferred (or willingness to obtain)Prior military police, security forces, master-at-arms, or guard duty experience strongly preferredPost-Internship OutcomeUpon successful completion of the SkillBridge program, interns are eligible for full-time hire as an Unarmed Security Officer with IES Safety, with advancement pathways into Lead Officer, Site Supervisor, Account Manager, or specialized roles such as Access Control Coordinator or Emergency Response Officer.
