Automated Welding Operator

The Automated Welding Operator produces high-quality pipe welds on the packaged skid systems J2B builds. The operator sets up and runs J2B's orbital welders, positioners and TIG machines, and builds and adjusts weld programs to meet J2B welding procedures and ASME code requirements.

ABOUT THE JOB

• Set up and run orbital welding power supplies, weld heads, positioners and TIG machines• Cut, face, prepare and fit up pipe to machine-welding tolerances• Build and adjust weld programs to meet J2B Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), ASME Section IX and ASME B31• Weld carbon and stainless steel pipe spools, including ID purging and oxygen monitoring• Inspect welds visually and by borescope; diagnose and correct defects• Support hydrostatic testing of completed spools• Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment• Keep accurate weld logs, heat numbers and material traceability records• Work safely under OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Subpart Q, ANSI Z49.1 and lockout/tagout requirementsQualificationsRequired• At least 1 year of hands-on welding experience, or experience running automated, robotic or CNC equipment (military or civilian)• Ability to read spool drawings, isometrics and AWS A2.4 weld symbols• Ability to follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and qualityPreferred• GTAW (TIG) pipe welding experience on carbon and stainless steel• Orbital welding or mechanized TIG experience• Knowledge of ASME Section IX and ASME B31.1/B31.3

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY

• At least 1 year of welding experience, or experience running automated, robotic or CNC equipment• Command approval for SkillBridge• Able to complete the full 8-week program on-site in Jacksonville, FL• Able to work safely under hot work and PPE requirements
