GP Plasma Mech & Electrical Engineering Intern Opportunity

The Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Intern will support engineering and manufacturing operations in a hands-on shop environment while participating in a 180-day SkillBridge training program with GP Plasma. The intern will assist with machine assembly, electrical wiring, schematics, CAD documentation, vacuum and coating system integration, installation preparation, and daily shop operations. This role provides practical experience working alongside engineers and technicians on production equipment and customer systems while building technical, safety, and troubleshooting skills. High-performing participants may be considered for transition into full-time engineering positions upon completion of the internship.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Intern will support engineering, manufacturing, and shop operations as part of a 180-day Department of Defense SkillBridge training program with GP Plasma. This hands-on role provides exposure to vacuum chamber and coating system builds, including machine assembly, electrical wiring, schematic interpretation, CAD documentation, and system integration.The intern will work alongside engineers and technicians to assist with equipment installation preparation, testing and commissioning activities, troubleshooting support, parts staging, and general shop maintenance. Training will also include fundamentals of vacuum technology, plasma and PECVD processes, thin-film coatings, safety practices, and manufacturing workflows.This position is designed to develop practical engineering and problem-solving skills while contributing to real production projects and daily operations. High-performing interns who demonstrate technical competency, safety awareness, and strong team collaboration may be considered for transition into full-time engineering roles following successful completion of the program.
