The Cemetery Director and Cemetery Assistant Director are responsible for developing and implementing local administrative, financial, and other resource, human capital, and management policies. The Cemetery Director and Cemetery Assistant Director oversee the planning, programming, coordinating, and directing the administration and operation of the National Cemetery.Cemetery Directors and Cemetery Assistant Directors average a Total Loss Rate (defined as any loss due to retirement, death, termination, voluntary separation, or transfer that removes the employee from the selected NCA facility) of 16.46% a year. SkillBridge can make a meaningful impact by allowing highly trained transitioning military members accustomed to learning critical and portable skillsets to gain hands-on experience that can be leveraged as the members transition to the next phase of reintegration into civilian life. Objectives: Expand the DoD SkillBridge at all NCA Human Resource locations by: • Establishing a program that develops a pipeline of VA-trained Cemetery Directors and Cemetery Assistant Directors• Providing a structured training/internship opportunity that supports transitioning Service members’ career goals and civilian transition• Supporting transitioning Service members in pursuing careers with VA

ABOUT THE JOB

: The preferred skills for the Cemetery Director and Cemetery Assistant Director position are: • Knowledge of federal, agency and department regulations, operational systems and procedures• Oral, written, and customer communication skills• Attention to details to evaluate and analyze issues and programs as well as plan and organize solutions• Excellent leadership skills• Ability to cope under stressful situations as well as handle complex and multiple assignments• Willingness to learn and advance career• Strong work ethic and reliability

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overseeing the planning, programming, coordinating, and directing the administration and operation of the National Cemetery
  • Expanding the DoD SkillBridge at all NCA Human Resource locations
