This is for Joint Base Elmendorf - Richardson Alaska. The DLA Energy provides world class fuel support to the Department of Defense. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, it will be your duty to ensure fuel provided to the warfighter and other customers meets quality control requirements.
This is for Joint Base Elmendorf - Richardson Alaska • Performs supply chain management quality functions for DLA Energy.• Evaluates contractor’s quality processes, procedures, and documentation for completeness, adequacy, and accuracy.• Performs oversight functions at assigned facilities without direct supervision and reports progress of work to respective supervisor/commander.• Ensures contractor conformance (through reviews, audits and other surveys) of the contractor’s systems, documentation and other qualitative and quantitative evidence of quality performance in accordance with sound quality management practices, quality provisions of DLA Energy solicitations/contracts, product specifications or other contractual requirements.• Inspects conveyances (tankers, barges, pipeline setup, trucks, railcars, etc.) utilized for transporting petroleum, chemicals, lubricating oils, missile fuels and gases to determine their suitability for intended use.• Observes key operations throughout the procurement process that include manufacturing, production, processing, blending, storage, sampling, testing, shipping, loading, calibration, and documentation.• Analyzes solicitations, contracts and other specialized documents to implement DLA Energy Quality Assurance (QA) procedures to verify that products/services offered by the contractor comply with contractual requirements.• Assists in the development of, and monitors Memoranda of Understanding, and Memoranda of Agreement with foreign nations, and/or foreign Contractor Owned-Contractor Operated (COCO) facilities.• Reviews contingency plans/orders and prepares/provides input to quality surveillance annexes.• Performs ancillary functions as Property Administrator and Contracting Officer Representative (COR) at Government Owned-Contractor Operated (GOCO) and COCO intermediate Defense Fuel Support Points (DFSP)s.
Participating Members must arrive with a Government Travel Card, Common Access Card, and active Defense Travel System Account. Members must pre-coordinate with unit to ensure all of these are available during the duration of training. Members must self-fund transportation to the Skillbridge location. You are responsible for all living, food and other transportation costs. This is a permissive TDY and DLA Energy will NOT cover normal living expenses. If selected, this training opportunity may come with some additional funded TDY’s in support of your training. If member does go on ADDITIONAL TDY’s then you will be funded by DLA Energy to travel for the training. In order to do so we require that the above GTC, CAC and DTS accounts are active for the duration of the Skillbridge program.
This is for Joint Base Elmendorf - Richardson Alaska. This program is targeted for personnel who are interested in becoming DLA Energy Quality Assurance Representatives. Our program is flexible to support interested applicants with no prior fuel quality control backgrounds and those who have extensive petroleum quality control backgrounds. The DLA Energy has multiple positions that open up throughout the year. Our goal is to build a foundation to enhance your abilities and desires to come work for our world class organization. Participating Members must arrive with a Government Travel Card, Common Access Card, and ACTIVE Defense Travel System Account. Members must pre-coordinate with unit to ensure all of these are available during the duration of training. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing of tall ladders and crouching or crawling in restricted areas i.e., climbing up, onto, and into tanks in excess of 60 feet high and accessing petroleum marine vessel tankers via gangways/Jacobs Ladders. As well to stoop and bend while inspecting storage tanks and may take a couple of hours to complete. Some tanks may require cleaning and necessitating additional periods of standing and climbing. WORK ENVIROMENT: The nature of the work requires that the specialist, on a regular and recurring basis, be exposed to potentially dangerous situations. Work is outside, subject to inclement weather conditions, and occurs all hours of the day and night. In all cases, the incumbent is expected to enforce and observe all applicable safety precautions, including the use of personal protective equipment(e.g. toxic chemical protective clothing) and devices. The QAR works in the vicinity of explosive petroleum products, toxic laboratory chemicals, and toxic fuel additives.
