The Project Engineer assists the Project Manager in the administration of project cost and scheduling systems; performs estimating functions for changes and addenda; supervises the document and shop drawing control systems; ensures the smooth flow of information between the design team, consultants and contractors; and coordinates the efforts of all other Project Engineers assigned to the site.
●Review and take OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health Certification and 4-Hour Supported Scaffolding User Certificate●Learn how to utilize construction software and Microsoft Office tools to support project documentation and communication●Review administrative practices and skill in negotiation with representatives of the client and other organizational entities●Learn how to establish and maintain access to technical experts in the advanced technologies pertinent to the project, and set up channels of communication to bring this expertise to bear effectively on the engineering effort●Learn how to review specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data to assist and advise on-site●Learn how to review and/or supervise the preparation of construction estimates, cost engineering studies, and budgets●Learn how to coordinate with the project manager on activities affecting the contract administration operation●Learn how to assist subordinate construction engineers and superintendents in interpreting design drawings and monitoring equipment installation, planning for delivery of construction materials and equipment●Learn how to administer assigned subcontracts●Learn how to administer subcontract changes and interfaces with client personnel●Learn how to supervise preparation of construction drawings and schedules●Learn how to supervise design of temporary construction facilities and ensure preparation of “as built” drawings and other job plans●Learn how to direct preparation of quantity listings of field purchased material and equipment•Learn how to direct engineering activities in preparation of project proposals, including estimates for engineering staffing, quantities, scope reviews, and schedules•Learn how to plan and coordinate work on a very large or complicated project or on a major project where unique problems exist in schedule, construction, or design
