The Idaho Youth Ranch is offering a SkillBridge opportunity for transitioning service members interested in gaining practical experience in retail operations, customer service, and nonprofit mission support. This position, based at one of our statewide thrift store locations, is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people, staying organized, and contributing to a cause that matters.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Retail & Customer Experience Associate, you will support day-to-day store operations while helping create a positive, inviting shopping environment. You’ll begin by greeting customers, assisting them on the sales floor, and helping ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. In the back of the store, you'll help sort, categorize, and process donated goods, taking part in keeping our merchandise fresh and appealing. Your eye for detail and organization will help you restock shelves, rotate inventory, and even participate in creating visually attractive displays. You may also contribute your knowledge in specific product areas—like clothing, books, accessories, or home goods—to help with pricing donated items appropriately.This hands-on role offers you a behind-the-scenes view of how nonprofit retail operations support larger missions. The revenue from our thrift stores funds vital youth programs across Idaho, including mental health services, residential care, and crisis support. Every item you sort, every customer you help, and every shift you complete directly contributes to these efforts.To succeed in this role, you should be personable, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. You’ll need to communicate clearly, manage basic physical tasks such as lifting and standing, and maintain a commitment to quality and service. Prior experience in retail is helpful but not required—what matters most is your enthusiasm to learn and your passion for making a difference.This SkillBridge position provides meaningful civilian work experience while giving you the opportunity to support a mission that helps change lives.
