Fossil Specialist Trainee
Talen's Martins Creek Power Plant is a dual fuel station (natural gas & oil) comprised of 2 units with 850 MW output each. Training will be provided to perform work associated with Fossil Generating Stations involving equipment operation and maintenance work. Must possess skills and knowledge in operation and maintenance work associated with equipment performance and repairs. Attends, operates and observes the operation of Fossil Generating plant equipment (turbine, generator, boiler, auxiliary equipment, etc.) and reports any unusual conditions to the Control Room and/or their supervisor. Specialists learn how to take corrective action to ensure safe and reliable operation of station equipment.
ABOUT THE JOB
A power plant operator is responsible for controlling and monitoring the operation of power generation facilities. They oversee the machinery and equipment used throughout the plant. Training is provided to work as an Auxiliary Operator, Boiler Attendant and Treating Plant Operator.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Control and monitor the operation of power generation facilities.
- Oversee the machinery and equipment used throughout the plant.
- Attend, operate, and observe the operation of Fossil Generating plant equipment such as turbine, generator, boiler, and auxiliary equipment.
- Report any unusual conditions to the Control Room and/or their supervisor.
- Take corrective action to ensure safe and reliable operation of station equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Skills and knowledge in operation and maintenance work associated with equipment performance and repairs.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY
During Training, candidate will take the Edison Electric Institute, POSS C exam. Training material will be provided.
