The Financial Specialist Intern will support TSA’s Budget and Finance Division in financial operations, including budget formulation, execution, auditing support, and reporting. The intern will assist with tracking obligations, preparing financial analyses, reconciling data, and preparing congressional budget materials. They will be exposed to federal budget cycles, appropriations law, and the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, Execution and Strategy (PPBE-S) process. Interns will collaborate with senior financial analysts and program managers to support decision-making and policy implementation tied to TSA's financial strategies.
This position serves as a financial specialist with responsibility for the review and coordination of financial and budget matters toward supporting the overall function and operation of the Portfolio Chairs within the Administrator’s office. The Intern also collaborates with and a advises managers on funding and financial issues for programs, recommends cost efficient options, and provides guidance and assistance with the planning and programming phases of the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, Execution and Strategy (PPBE-S) process. Additionally, serves as a liaison with the Program Office to ensure all budget tasking’s from the Program Office are completed on a timely basis, and performs budget/financial analysis as required by the Program Office on projected and/or historical use of funds. Serves as a Financial SystemAdministrator responsible for maintaining users’ access to financial systems and accounting lines.
