GovCIO is seeking an energetic, motivated, and dedicated Intern Network Administrator with exceptional communication and foundational network troubleshooting skills to work alongside our Network Management Team. The Intern Network Administrator will help with one or more projects that onsite technicians are working on, allowing opportunities to gain exposure, and understanding of network administration methodologies in a federal government environment. The ideal candidate will be on active duty within 180 days of their separation date and have their command’s approval. This position will be located in San Antonio, TX and will be a within the United States as a hybrid position.
Primary duties of the Intern Network Administrator include, but are not limited to:• Collaborate with team members to determine the best practices for project execution• Assist with the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of network equipment including routers, switches, and virtual desktop clients• Support troubleshooting of network connectivity, performance, and hardware issues• Monitor network health and assist with documentation of network diagrams, configurations, and procedures• Apply basic security best practices and assist with patching, STIG’ing and updates• Provide technical support to users and escalate issues as needed• Assist network administrators with ensuring project requirements, standards, and documentation are followed • Provide support to ensure compliance with all contractual commitments defined in the latest Technical Direction Letter (TDL)• Follow established procedures for submitting changes requests for network or systems changes• Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges in a dynamic environment• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve project efficiency• Perform other duties as assignedMandatory Qualifications • Active TS/SCI Eligibility• 4+ years of Network experience• Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VoIP)• Ability to work independently and within a team environment• 3+ years managing teams of six or more• DoD 8140 certification (CompTIA Security+ or equivalent)Desired Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline• Experience with DoD NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, or other DODIN Networks• A strong interest in network administration as a career path• Self-motivated team player with an ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels• Ability to function in a fast-paced dynamic environment• CCNA certified within 6 months of starting work
