The Department of Emergency Management (DEM) coordinates preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities to protect lives, property, and the continuity of government services during emergencies and disasters. The department works closely with public agencies, community organizations, and emergency response partners throughout the county.
ABOUT THE JOB
This role provides transitioning military personnel with practical experience supporting the daily operations of an emergency management office. Associates will assist with administrative coordination, project support, scheduling, communications, records management, and emergency preparedness activities while developing skills applicable to public sector careers.
RESPONSIBILITIES✨
- Provide administrative support to emergency management staff and leadership
- Assist with meeting scheduling, logistics, agendas, and meeting documentation
- Maintain records, databases, and department files
- Support procurement, purchasing, and invoice tracking processes
- Assist with training and exercise registration and coordination
- Prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, and informational materials
- Support emergency notification and contact management systems
- Track project deadlines and deliverables
- Assist with event planning and community outreach activities
