A JROTC Instructor is a leadership mentor and educator who develops students’ character, discipline, and citizenship through structured military-based training, academic instruction, and community engagement.
JROTC Instructors develop lesson plans aligned with program standards, teach subjects such as leadership theory, U.S. history, and civic responsibility, and lead physical fitness training. They mentor students on personal growth, discipline, and teamwork while managing cadet organizations and leadership roles within the unit. Responsibilities include organizing ceremonies, drills, inspections, and special events; maintaining accountability of equipment and uniforms; ensuring program compliance with military and school policies; and collaborating with school staff, parents, and community partners.
Veterans who have retired or honorably separated with 8 years of service and no more than 5 years of separation time. National Guardsmen and Reservist can serve with a command approval letter.Possess an Associate’s Degree or higher degree. Associate’s Degree can be earned within 5 years while serving as an instructor.
