This internship is offered through the DoD SkillBridge Program, providing active-duty service members in their final 90 days the opportunity to gain meaningful civilian work experience. As a Penetration Tester Intern, participants collaborate with offensive security and assessment teams to emulate real-world adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures. This role supports the identification of vulnerabilities prior to exploitation and provides a structured introduction to ethical hacking and red team operations.
This 12-week program is structured to prepare SkillBridge participants for the OffSec OSEP PEN-300 certification through a combination of on-demand coursework and practical on-the-job training (OJT). Participants will complete sections 1–17 of the PEN-300 syllabus and all associated labs in preparation for the certification exam. Additional details are available in the official syllabus at: https://www.offsec.com/courses/pen-300/download/syllabus.In addition to the certification curriculum, participants will engage in OJT with cybersecurity assessment personnel, applying offensive security methodologies in supervised practical environments. The program also includes exposure to corporate functions such as technology research and development, proposal solution development, and support for business development activities including white papers and technical content creation.Position Responsibilities:- Participate in the completion of the OffSec OSEP PEN-300 certification curriculum, including sections 1–17 and all associated labs.- Support Red and Blue Team operations and cybersecurity assessments under the supervision of senior staff, applying offensive security concepts in practical environments.- Contribute to on-the-job training activities, gaining experience with tools, techniques, and methodologies used in penetration testing and red teaming.- Assist with technology research and development efforts, including the evaluation and application of emerging security tools and techniques.- Support proposal development and solutioning activities for both government and commercial engagements.- Contribute to the creation of technical content, such as white papers, solution briefs, and articles, in support of business development and knowledge-sharing initiatives.- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gain exposure to corporate operations and cybersecurity service delivery.
- Active-duty service member eligible for the DoD SkillBridge Program and within the final 180 days of service upon internship start.- Must possess a DoD Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.- Foundational understanding of information security principles, network operations, and operating system architectures (Windows, Linux).- Familiarity with scripting or programming concepts (Python, PowerShell, Bash) preferred but not required.- General knowledge of TCP/IP networking and common enterprise technologies.- Demonstrated interest in offensive security, penetration testing, or red teaming.- Ability to complete structured technical training and hands-on labs.- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and take direction from senior staff.- Willingness to participate in technical and corporate support activities.
This is a hybrid position that will require onsite presence at OneZero Solutions corporate headquarters.
