Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration

The position is located in Washington, DC Federal Transit Administration (FTA) office. A Contract Specialist will be focusing on supporting contract officers with various types of contracts and assisting with managing administration of federal contracts. The vision of success is to provide interns the opportunity to gain valuable professional experience and build leadership skills. Participants in the program will be exposed to the Federal work environment and will learn the mission of the Federal Transit Administration and its role and responsibilities to the public transportation industry.

ABOUT THE JOB

Applying principles and procedures applicable to pre-award and post award to procure and/or administer contracts. Perform pre-award and post-award contract functions including negotiation, cost/price analysis, and administration of contracts for supplies and services. Assisting with managing administration of federal contracts. The intern would assist with the development and refinement of the contracting products for internal and external stakeholders. Assist the office manager in the planning, operations, and review of agency programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience providing business advice to customers and performing all pre-award/post-award functions using contracting methods and types to procure services and/or supplies.
• Must be available to report in-person.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY

Experience providing business advice to customers and performing all pre-award/post-award functions, using contracting methods and types to procure services and/or supplies. Must be available to report in-person, there may be a possibility for telework, but there is expectation for Interns to be available to report in-person to local office to meet FTA mission requirements.
