About the Quality Engineer SkillBridge Program:This immersive program is designed to provide you with hands-on experience and training in the principles and practices of quality engineering within a manufacturing environment. You will work alongside experienced quality professionals, contributing to the development, implementation, and maintenance of our quality management systems.What You Will Learn and Contribute:During this SkillBridge program, you may be involved in:Understanding and applying quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001).Participating in the development and review of quality control plans and procedures.Assisting with process audits and inspections to ensure compliance.Learning about root cause analysis and corrective action processes.Contributing to data collection and analysis for quality performance monitoring.Gaining exposure to various manufacturing processes and their impact on quality.Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and production.Developing your problem-solving and analytical skills in a real-world industrial setting.What We Are Looking For:Sabre Industries values the transferable skills gained through military service. Participants will gain hands-on experience and in-depth training in quality engineering principles, practices, and their application within Sabre Industries' manufacturing environment. This program aligns with industry standards, DoD SkillBridge requirements, and the specific needs of our organization.Responsibilities and Learning Objectives:Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to:Understand the strategic importance of quality engineering in a manufacturing setting and the evolution of quality management systems (QMS) with an engineering focus (e.g., ISO 9001).Apply advanced measurement principles, techniques, and equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and optical comparators.Interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles (ASME Y14.5) to complex engineering drawings and specifications, including tolerance stack-up analysis.Create detailed inspection plans, procedures, and work instructions, and develop comprehensive non-conformance reports (NCRs) using root cause analysis methodologies.Utilize quality control software and databases for data collection, analysis, and reporting, and apply basic statistical concepts relevant to quality engineering.Employ structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, DMAIC) and root cause analysis tools (e.g., Fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys, Pareto charts) to develop and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).Refine visual inspection skills for complex assemblies and critical components, analyze defect modes and mechanisms, and develop standardized visual inspection criteria.Plan and execute dimensional and functional tests, perform first-article inspections (FAIs) to AS9102 or similar standards, and apply statistical sampling plans (e.g., ANSI/ASQ Z1.4).Understand and apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts, calculate and interpret process capability indices (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk), and develop process monitoring and control plans.Gain a detailed overview of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles and their application in quality improvement.Develop a comprehensive understanding of relevant industry standards (e.g., AS9100, IATF 16949), applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, FAA, DoD), and specific customer quality requirements.Understand the principles and elements of a robust quality management system, the processes involved in its development, implementation, and maintenance, and the importance of document control and risk management (e.g., FMEA).Develop professional skills including resume and cover letter tailoring, advanced interview techniques, networking strategies, professional communication, and adherence to safety and ethical standards in engineering.Gain practical, on-the-job experience by shadowing experienced Manufacturing Quality Engineers and participating in real-world quality engineering projects, including developing inspection plans, analyzing process data, leading root cause analysis, implementing CAPA, and contributing to the QMS.Required Qualifications (Transferable Military Skills Highly Valued):Preferred Qualifications:Experience with technical documentation and adherence to standards.Familiarity with quality principles or concepts.Leadership experience and the ability to work independently.Training and Mentorship:Participants will receive structured training based on the outlined curriculum, combining theoretical knowledge with practical application.
