SportsMedia.net is seeking a detail-oriented, Corporate Counsel to provide legal support and be trained across all aspects of the company’s operations. The successful candidate will advise on intellectual property matters, licensing agreements, contractual negotiations, and general corporate legal issues. This role requires a strong understanding of media law, sports industry regulations, and intellectual property protection. The ideal candidate will have experience in contract drafting and negotiation, IP management, and compliance.

ABOUT THE JOB

Job Description:Position Overview:As the Corporate Counsel at SportsMedia.net, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the company’s legal interests while supporting its growth objectives. You will work closely with senior leadership, business development teams, and external partners to ensure that all transactions, contracts, and agreements are legally sound and aligned with company goals.Key Responsibilities:Legal Strategy Development:Provide strategic legal advice on matters related to intellectual property (IP), licensing, media rights, and corporate governance.Develop and implement legal strategies to protect the company’s IP assets, including trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.Intellectual Property Management:Oversee the registration, enforcement, and defense of IP rights in the U.S. and internationally.Monitor and respond to potential infringements or disputes related to IP.Licensing Negotiations:Lead negotiations for licensing agreements with third parties, including content providers, athletes, sponsors, and media outlets.Review and draft licensing contracts to ensure compliance with legal standards and company policies.Contract Drafting and Negotiation:Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including production agreements, vendor contracts, talent agreements, and distribution deals.Ensure that all contracts align with company objectives and mitigate potential risks.Compliance Monitoring:Monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards to minimize legal exposure.Provide guidance on data privacy, antitrust, and other regulatory matters impacting the company’s operations.Risk Mitigation:Identify and assess legal risks associated with new business initiatives and recommend strategies to mitigate them. Advise on disputes, litigation, or arbitration matters as needed. Corporate Advisory Services:Provide legal guidance on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions. Assist in the development of internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements. Management of Outside Counsel: Collaborate with external attorneys and law firms as needed for specialized matters or litigation support.Ensure that outside counsel’s work aligns with company priorities and budget constraints. Crisis Management: Serve as a key advisor during crises, such as legal disputes, regulatory investigations, or reputational risks.Develop contingency plans to address potential legal challenges.Stay Updated on Legal Trends:Keep abreast of changes in media law, sports industry regulations, and IP-related developments that could impact the company’s operations.Share relevant updates with senior leadership and other stakeholders.Qualifications:Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. Membership in good standing with a state bar is required. Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in corporate law, preferably with a focus on intellectual property, media, or sports-related industries. In-house counsel experience is strongly preferred.Skills:Expertise in intellectual property law, including trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.Strong negotiation skills and the ability to draft complex contracts.Knowledge of media law, sports industry regulations, and entertainment law.Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.Certifications: (Optional) Certification in Intellectual Property Rights (CIPR) or related field.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in the sports media, entertainment, or digital content industries. Familiarity with data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).   • Strong negotiation skills and ability to draft complex contracts.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY

Should already have completed a law degree and practiced in civilian or military application for at least one year
