Overview of the ProgramThe purpose of this internship is to provide interns with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to transition to full time employment as a MedLine maintenance Technician I. The training program is designed to provide new employees with the opportunity to learn, the people, the process and the culture. Through this process they will also demonstrate their skills, which will allow Medline to better understand what developmental training is needed. (Note: The objective of the program is to provide full time employment to all interns who meet training objectives and receive positive performance appraisals. However, an offer of full-time employment is not guaranteed.)

ABOUT THE JOB

Maintenance Technician I Key Responsibilities • Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on assigned conveyors, automation, robotics and ancillary equipment as needed.• Perform routing troubleshooting of assigned out of service equipment and correct issues, act as an escalation point for lower-level technician, and escalate to leadership and/or senior technicians as needed.• Document all work in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and ticketing systems as appropriate. • Mentor all maintenance personnel in developing appropriate skillsets and knowledge of equipment.• Perform root cause analysis of major downtime events.• Assist maintenance mechanics in work that requires two people or when operational needs demand.• Perform building project work as assigned

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on assigned conveyors, automation, robotics and ancillary equipment as needed.
  • Perform routing troubleshooting of assigned out of service equipment and correct issues, act as an escalation point for lower-level technician, and escalate to leadership and/or senior technicians as needed.
  • Document all work in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and ticketing systems as appropriate.
  • Mentor all maintenance personnel in developing appropriate skillsets and knowledge of equipment.
  • Perform root cause analysis of major downtime events.
  • Assist maintenance mechanics in work that requires two people or when operational needs demand.
  • Perform building project work as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited) required.
  • 3 years’ relevant work experience with electronic and mechanical equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Fundamental understanding of machinery/equipment.
  • Basic skill level in multiple computer software packages including Microsoft Excel.
  • Willing to travel at least/up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
  • Physical activities necessary to perform one or more essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, push, lift for extended periods daily.
  • Frequently move, lift, carry supplies/equipment up to 50 lbs. and may have to occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for a minimum of 8 hours and up to 12 hours for up to 6 days a week.
  • Ability to continuously ascend and descend from ladders and stairs, work at heights and/or from a ladder, work from a lying down position, work with your hands above your head.
  • Willing to operate material handling equipment (i.e. fork truck).
  • Write documents and reports using writing instruments and computers.
  • Read information, often small print (drawings).
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures such as Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc. and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards.
  • Ability to work overtime and must be available for on-call requests as needed.
  • 3 years’ relevant work experience with conveyor, automation, or robotics equipment repair and maintenance
  • Experience working with inputs, outputs, PLC logic systems and ability to troubleshoot these systems
  • Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent
