This is a firefighter internship with the goal of pursuing a firefighter career upon EAS.
This 9-week intensive internship provides an aspiring firefighter with a "boots-on-the-ground" introduction to municipal fire protection and emergency medical services. The intern will work alongside career staff to gain experience in fire suppression, rescue operations, equipment maintenance, and community risk reduction.Key ResponsibilitiesEmergency Response Support: Assist crews during non-hazardous phases of emergency calls; assist with hose deployment, ladder placement, and scene lighting under direct supervision.Apparatus & Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily "checks" on engines, trucks, and ambulances; assist with the cleaning, testing, and maintenance of fire hoses and SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus).Training Participation: Attend daily company drills including live-fire simulations, vehicle extrication practice, and high-angle rescue training.Fire Prevention & Education: Participate in fire safety inspections of local businesses and assist with community outreach programs (e.g., smoke detector installations, school visits).Station Duties: Maintain a clean and professional living environment by participating in daily station chores (cleaning, landscaping, and meal prep).
