General Safety & Injury/Illness Prevention & Management, Lead Safety Specialist

ABOUT THE JOB

The incumbent serves as a key safety and compliance leader, responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs across the medical center and its associated sites. This includes conducting inspections, accident investigations, and risk assessments; ensuring compliance with federal, state, and VHA regulations and developing policies, procedures, and training programs to mitigate hazards and promote workplace safety. They act as the primary educator on life safety and hazard surveillance, coordinate with leadership and regulatory bodies, and manage injury/illness prevention initiatives. Additionally, they oversee construction safety, maintain OSAH reporting, lead Environment of Care (EOC) rounds, and support legal processes as needed, all while integrating safety into organizational planning and operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES✨

• Developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs across the medical center and its associated sites.
• Conducting inspections, accident investigations, and risk assessments.
• Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and VHA regulations.
• Developing policies, procedures, and training programs to mitigate hazards and promote workplace safety.
