The Buyer SkillBridge opportunity provides transitioning service members with hands-on manufacturing Buyer experience at a Fortune 150 company, which is also the largest steel manufacturer and recycler in North America.
The role of the Buyer is to coordinate, manage, and execute the proper procurement strategies. These strategiesinclude sourcing, procuring, and expediting maintenance, repair, and inventory items, developing andimplementing effective processes, and developing supplier relationships to drive financial success for the Division.Additional responsibilities include the proactive research of cost savings and value-added opportunities. Manageand execute complex contracts. Actively participate in overall Nucor buy initiatives. Participate in developing andexecuting appropriate bidding procedures as well as negotiating pricing and terms and conditions on purchaseditems. Participate in developing, documenting, and continuously improving appropriate internal control and TSquality system procedures. Participate in the growth and development of the Purchasing team and actively pursuepersonal growth and development opportunities. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor;therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies,practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
