M2 Federal, Inc. is seeking Interns interested in the Elevator Industry and capable of transitioning to full-time employment as Site Superintendent for Elevator Modernization Projects across the United States. M2 Federal, Inc. is a Veteran-Owned construction and consulting company out of San Marcos, TX. We modernize elevators for State and Federal customers.Initial Intern tasks are to participate in on-site Supervision of Elevator Modernization Projects under a Fully-Qualified Site Superintendent, thus learning M2 Federal’s administrative and operational processes for Site Supervision. The Interns shall attend and successfully complete an array of Company (M2 Federal)-funded OSHA and Federal Training Courses necessary to become a Fully Qualified Site Superintendent. NOTE: Company Funded—independent of Intern’s GI Bill. A successful applicant possesses and demonstrates Excellent Small Unit Leadership and Integrity, Verbal Communications Skills with Government Personnel, an Aptitude for Understanding Mechanical Systems and Identifying Unsafe Working Conditions, Desire for Constant Learning and Active Knowledge Utilization (Applied Common Sense), and Basic Administrative Skills to Manage Schedules and write Timely Daily Reports.
Upon Completion of Internship—End of Active Service—the Intern is Expected to Transition to Full-Time M2 Federal Employment as a Field Site Superintendent Responsible for: - Onsite Project Point of Contact for the Government Client, M2 Federal and Subcontractors modernizing elevators and related systems. - Positive Professionalism to Establish and Maintain a Professional Work Environment Onsite and working with Subcontractors to do the same. - Establish and Ensure Quality Control, Safety Standards, and Good Housekeeping Procedures, too include compliance with applicable specifications, plans and procedures. - Plan, deconflict and direct construction activities and subcontractors- Schedule project-related tasks and subcontractor work for each phase of work.- Author and ensure appropriate construction documentation is completed in a timely manner. too include reports, security badging, hot work permits, and safety measures. - Make Onsite decisions and take actions necessary to ensure work is performed on schedule and in accordance with applicable plans, specifications and standards. - Manage onsite documentation and possess a working knowledge of ongoing and near-term planned activities and their applicable Project Documents, to include work inspections. - Coordinate with M2 Federal Elevator Manager to ensure warranty service and repair plans are appropriate and properly executed, with Facility Manager follow-up to identify and address any concerns. - Flexible Work hours. Expect to work four 10-hour shifts per week (Mon-Thurs) while onsite activities are ongoing with occasional After Hours and Weekend work as needed to minimize impact on Facility Staff. Five-day regular work week during admin periods.
Required Qualifications: - Valid driver's license and ability to drive to various job and training sites - Pass a criminal, government facility and possibly a medical screening NOTE: No “classified information” security clearance required. “Security” is physical security. - Basic Email and MS Office (Excel & Word) Proficiency - Proficiency at working applications on mobile devices like a smart phone, tablet or notebook computer. - Moderate Good Health., defined by: --Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; climb, balance and stoop, crouch or crawl; walk up and down stairs and ladders; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; --Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, --Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision --Specific hearing abilities required include the ability to hear and speak in normal tones at meetings--No Vertigo or other medical conditions that may lead to loss of consciousness or incapacitation when exposed to heights, modestly tight spaces or poorly lit spaces. *Preferred Qualifications** Demonstrated Effective Work as a Supervisor managing Subordinates*Certificates and Awards in Safety, Administration and Hazardous Materials Management, too include: OSHA 30, Fall Protection, Enclosed Spaces, Rigging, Lockout/Tagout, First Aid, CPR, AED and CQMC. Training will be provided.
NOTE: M2 Federal shall work with the Intern to attend appropriate safety, administrative and occupational training to succeed at the above tasks. The Intern is responsible for personal integrity, reliability, interest in personal growth and good applied common sense. NOTE: Intern will be in proximity to moving elevator mechanical parts and electrical components, sometimes on grating in elevated spaces or in basements and modestly tight quarters. Some spaces and activities are loud enough to require hearing protection for up to 4 hours while in the space work is occurring. The Intern MUST POSSESS the Physical and Mental ability to perform in a safe, professional manner that instills confidence in others and facilitates a safe, professional work environment.
