The Marine Compliance Specialist SkillBridge program offers a six-month training opportunity for transitioning service members interested in maritime regulatory compliance. Participants will gain hands-on experience conducting surveys, audits, and client consultations to ensure adherence to safety management systems and maritime regulations.Throughout the program, trainees will work closely with marine owners, operators, shoreside personnel, and vessel crews, developing practical expertise in compliance standards, risk management, and operational best practices. This role requires attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication to align regulatory expectations with industry operations.The 180-day training period provides a structured pathway for service members to transition into maritime compliance roles, offering valuable industry exposure and career-building opportunities.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Marine Compliance Specialist ensures adherence to maritime regulations by conducting comprehensive surveys, audits, and client consultations. They prepare detailed reports on the effectiveness of safety management systems and adherence to compliance standards. This role involves close collaboration with marine owners and operators to align regulatory expectations with company practices, ensuring both compliance and operational success. Additionally, the Marine Compliance Specialist works daily with marine shoreside personnel and vessel crews to strive for continuous improvements in safety, risk management and operational procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducting comprehensive surveys, audits, and client consultations to ensure adherence to maritime regulations.
- Preparing detailed reports on the effectiveness of safety management systems and adherence to compliance standards.
- Collaborating closely with marine owners and operators to align regulatory expectations with company practices.
- Working daily with marine shoreside personnel and vessel crews to strive for continuous improvements in safety, risk management, and operational procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Willingness to attend various marine sites, including ports and vessel.
- Ability to work in different weather conditions and environments, including onboard vessels in motion.
- Ability to board vessels using gangways, ladders, or other access points, sometimes in challenging conditions.

OTHER
- Primary Work Location - Office based in Channelview, TX- Travel Frequency – Frequent travel to and from marine facilities, client locations and vessel locations. Mostly in the Houston, Port Arthur, Lake Charles and Corpus Christi areas but other locations may be necessary.- On-Site Requirements – Work includes time aboard vessels, at shipyards, marine facilities, and in office.- Transportation Logistics – Trainees are required to use their personal vehicle for local travel. Mileage reimbursement may be available based on company policy. Candidates should ensure they have reliable transportation for site visits, meetings, and other job-related travel.
