This position provides the intern with broad exposure to event management and game operations at Mississippi State University. The intern will engage in various tasks related to the setup, operation, and breakdown of athletic events, special events, and other university programs. The role will involve direct interaction with the public, athletic teams, and university leadership, allowing the intern to gain valuable experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Event Management & Facility Operations intern will assist in all aspects of event and facility management, including setup, operation, breakdown, and conversion of event spaces. The intern will also be responsible for reporting facility maintenance issues and ensuring that all events are conducted in a safe and efficient manner. The position does not include supervisory responsibilities but requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in diverse environmental conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in all aspects of event and facility management, including setup, operation, breakdown, and conversion of event spaces.
  • Report facility maintenance issues.
  • Ensure that all events are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in a related field is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours, often in challenging environments.
  • Strong organizational, management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of working in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Ability to handle significant physical exertion, including lifting, bending, and other physically demanding tasks.
  • Frequent requirement to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, handle objects with hands, and lift objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasional need to climb, balance, and lift heavy objects weighing more than 100 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include the ability to read and process information both in print and electronically.
