Job Description Software Tools & Automation Engineer - SecurityThe Quality Assurance team in Apple’s Security Engineering & Architecture (SEAR) organization is looking for a collaborative software quality assurance engineer with a drive to ensure the quality of and validation efforts for highly complex and massive security initiatives. Our work results in major improvements to the security of Apple users without compromising the user experience that over a billion users rely on every day. We develop challenging and impactful security features that require rigorous test development and execution to land cleanly and successfully. The test automation engineer is a technical software engineer experienced in writing software to push and defend our high standard of quality, security and privacy and creating great end-user experiences through meticulous quality. You will work side-by-side with Platform Security software developers, other QA engineers during all project phases, collaborating on feature definition, quality plan, test development and execution. You will gain experience testing software across a wide range of Apple’s software stack.The role requires strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Some of the key responsibilities would be to:Design, develop and maintain automation test framework and tests for new features that span across multiple platforms. Streamline automated test reporting leveraging various communication mediums. Perform root cause analysis on bugs found via automation. Investigate issues blocking automated runs and resolve in timely manner. Ensure scalability and efficiency of the test infrastructure. Adapt to a fast-paced and informal environment. Ability to respond and react to changing priorities quickly and efficientlyMinimum QualificationsBachelors degree in computer science or related field; or equivalent practical experience.2 years of experience with software testing and automation tooling.Preferred QualificationsCoordinating with feature teams to adopt existing automation suites. Strong understanding of Quality Engineering methodologies and practicesDevelop comprehensive feature test plans to ensure the feature achieves its goals without regressing functionality, performance. Implement new tests when needed to achieve adequate coverage. Automate end-to-end and unit-level testing. Manage automated testing and triage test failures. Report on testing status and follow up to ensure regressions are addressed.
