Automotive Service Center/Lot ManagerSkill Bridge Program:The program is scheduled for 17 weeks of on-the -job training, formal education, and state certification. The training is broken into 9 distinct training modules. After each module, knowledge and performance will be evaluated and comprehensive feedback will be provided to the intern. Job Title: General Manager – Independent Auto Sales & Service CenterLocation: 4185 Thomas Sumter Highway Dalzell, SC 29040Employment Type: Full-TimeReports To: Owner/Executive DirectorOverview:The General Manager oversees all daily operations of the independent auto sales lot and service department, ensuring a seamless and profitable experience for both customers and staff. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional communication, and a solid understanding of automotive retail and repair operations.Key ResponsibilitiesSales Lot Operations- Supervise all vehicle sales activities including inventory acquisition, pricing strategy, merchandising, and customer service.- Maintain optimal vehicle inventory levels by coordinating with wholesalers, auctions, and trade-ins.- Analyze sales trends to adjust marketing tactics and meet revenue goals.- Train and coach the sales team on negotiation strategies, customer handling, and compliance practices.- Ensure vehicle presentation (lot arrangement, cleanliness, signage) reflects brand quality.Service Center Management- Oversee day-to-day service operations, including work orders, technician performance, parts procurement, and customer satisfaction.- Maintain an accurate schedule and ensure timely vehicle turnarounds.- Monitor service upselling and warranty compliance.- Ensure all diagnostic and repair work meets safety and industry standards.Staff Leadership & HR- Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise team members across sales and service departments.- Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture rooted in accountability, growth, and performance.- Conduct regular team meetings, performance evaluations, and professional development plans.- Manage staff schedules, resolve conflicts, and enforce workplace policies.Financial Oversight- Develop and track departmental budgets, cost controls, and profit goals.- Review P&L statements and recommend operational changes to improve profitability.- Approve vendor invoices, monitor receivables, and coordinate with accounting personnel.Customer Experience- Set the tone for high-quality customer service across all touchpoints.- Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.- Implement feedback mechanisms (surveys, follow-up calls) to ensure continual improvement.- Promote customer retention programs such as loyalty incentives or service plans.Compliance & Safety- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations affecting auto sales and repairs.- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and licensing requirements.- Keep all operational certifications current (dealer license, repair shop permit, etc.)
