ABOUT THE JOB
UMX will provide the candidate sixteen plus weeks (dependent on allotted skillbridge timeframe) of instructor led formal, and on the job training to assist in the candidate’s transition into the marine construction industry. Our training will prepare them for a career as a Marine construction technician providing multiple individual apprenticeship programs to include, welding and cutting, small engine tech, equipment operator, rigger and concrete worker. The service member will receive a level of knowledge exam during the onboarding process. This exam will be utilized to determine the members starting point in the training process and to help tailor the training plan to specific strengths and weaknesses. Before integration into the workforce for OJT he or she will be required to complete multiple online safety courses. There are several individual local certifications listed in the training plan that the servicemember will have the opportunity to obtain while at UMX. These certifications will require demonstration of competent knowledge, passing a written exam, and a practical hands-on exam. While onboard the service member will be assigned a senior staff member from the operations team as a mentor. This employee will help tailor each individual training road map to ensure that the service members’ time onboard will be efficiently managed to obtain the individual certifications that he or she will benefit from the most.
