The goal of this internship is to provide the DoD SkillBridge Intern with the training necessary to successfully graduate into a full-scale logistics professional, who can eventually move into managerial or supervisory positions in the operations or transportation areas of H.T Hackney Company. This internship opportunity program will involve all aspects of serving as a leader in a multi-dimensional distribution center – from receiving product on the receiving dock, to delivering the product to the customers. By leveraging the intern's experience and H.T Hackney’s training, a career with H.T Hackney could begin as soon as the intern departs active duty. This program will involve all aspects of a serving as a leader in a multi-dimensional Distribution Center – from receiving product on the receiving dock, to delivering the product to the customers. This will include fleet management and maintenance operations, fuels management, driver training and OSHA/DOT compliance. Our goal is to help shape and develop an individual into a full-scale logistics professional, who can eventually move into one of our managerial or supervisory positions in the operations or transportation areas. 3 to 6 month long internship opportunity
ABOUT THE JOB
Transportation Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a leader in a multi-dimensional Distribution Center
- Manage receiving product on the receiving dock to delivering the product to the customers
- Handle fleet management and maintenance operations
- Manage fuels management
- Conduct driver training and ensure OSHA/DOT compliance
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school or equivalent education (Preferred)
- Knowledge of warehousing management
- Experience with hand-held scanners
- Ability to lead and supervise
- Knowledge of P&L, budget management
- Manage hours and labor dollars
- Knowledge and enforcement of safety rules and regulations
- Ability to document work
- Work with Department of Agriculture for audits
- Maintain and control building inventory
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and background checks
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY
