The IT Technician is responsible for providing technical support, maintaining computer systems, and assisting with network and hardware deployments within county facilities. This role involves setting up and troubleshooting IT equipment, assisting with user onboarding, and ensuring that county systems run efficiently. The technician will work closely with other IT staff and department stakeholders to support technology needs across various locations.
ABOUT THE JOB
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesSystem Setup & User Support:Assist in creating new user accounts, setting up email, and configuring phone systems.Install, configure, and maintain computer systems for county employees.Provide technical support for hardware and software issues, troubleshooting problems as they arise.Network & Equipment Maintenance:Learn and assist with network equipment setup and maintenance.Understand and document internet service providers (ISPs) for each facility.Perform system backups and basic troubleshooting of network connectivity issues.Hardware Deployment & Repairs:Set up and deploy new IT equipment, including desktops, laptops, and printers.Assist in imaging systems for different departments and configuring drive shares.Perform minor computer repairs and escalate complex issues as needed.Event & Meeting Support:Set up and manage IT equipment for meetings, ensuring proper functionality.Provide technical assistance during county events when needed.Support after-hours IT requirements as necessary.System Coordination & Procurement:Identify IT equipment and software needs for departments and coordinate purchases.Work with vendors for repairs and equipment procurement when necessary.Maintain inventory of IT tools, hardware, and software assets.General IT Operations & Development:Meet with department staff and supervisors to assess IT needs and recommend solutions.Document and maintain IT procedures and user guidelines.Continuously develop technical skills and stay updated on IT best practices.Required Skills & Qualifications:Basic knowledge of computer systems, networks, and IT troubleshooting.Experience with user account setup, email configuration, and system imaging.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.Ability to communicate effectively and provide technical assistance to non-technical users.Willingness to work flexible hours, including after-hours support when needed.
