Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra
The objective of the internship is to educate and train individuals as adaptive snowsports instructors through a combination of classroom and field learning and on-the-job training. Upon successful completion of the internship, individuals will be prepared to attempt and earn the Professional Ski Instructors of America and American Association of Snowboard Instructors Level I certification.
ABOUT THE JOB
An Adaptive Snowsports Instructor plans and facilitates recreational and educational experiences in snowsports for individuals with disabilities. S/he is responsible for assessing student needs, goals, and abilities and delivering a learning experience that satisfies all three areas. S/he is also responsible for reviewing the learning experience with the student and/or caregivers by providing a summary of what was achieved and what can be expected next.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans and facilitates recreational and educational experiences in snowsports for individuals with disabilities.
- Responsible for assessing student needs, goals, and abilities.
- Delivers a learning experience that satisfies student needs, goals, and abilities.
- Reviews the learning experience with the student and/or caregivers by providing a summary of what was achieved and what can be expected next.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Educate and train as adaptive snowsports instructors.
- Preparation for Professional Ski Instructors of America and American Association of Snowboard Instructors Level I certification.
