Position: Government Relations ApprenticeJoin Sports Media, Inc. for an engaging apprenticeship opportunity in government relations. This position involves directing the evaluation, selection, activities, and actions of federal, state, and local government lobbyists. As an apprentice, you'll contribute to the development and implementation of government relations and policy agendas for SDVOSB (Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business). This is a remote work position that offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in advocacy and policy development.

ABOUT THE JOB
Responsibilities: -Conduct detailed analyses and prepare complex reports -Support and advance the center’s government relations and advocacy agenda at the local, state, and federal levels -Develop policy positions on matters relevant to the mission of the center. -Prepare memos, draft regulations and legislation, prepare public testimony, and develop advocacy materials -Prepare follow-up materials to meetings and requests for data or analysis by governmental and legislative authority. -Other related duties as required Requirements: -Current undergraduate majoring in government relations or any related field -Experience analyzing complex and sensitive intergovernmental issues, developing and making recommendations to staff -Ability to think critically and strategically -Make appropriate and sound decisions after weighing alternatives. -Strong verbal communication and writing skills -Strong time management, planning and organizational skills with attention to detail -Ability to work with little direction and supervision -Timely completion of projects, and flexibility to take on unplanned assignments -Ability to function independently and as part of a team -Follow policies and procedures. -Proficiency in Google Docs (Word, Excel) and Slack (teachable) -Familiar with Zoom for weekly calls. ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY
Responsibilities: Government Relations Strategy: Assist in formulating and executing government relations strategies to advance the interests of Sports Media, Inc. and SDVOSB. This includes evaluating and selecting appropriate lobbying activities at the federal, state, and local levels. Policy Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of policy agendas related to sports and entertainment, advertising and marketing, and environmental policy. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advocate for policies that support the company's objectives. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with government officials, policymakers, and advocacy groups. Effectively communicate the company's positions and priorities to key stakeholders, fostering productive partnerships and alliances. Communication and Organizational Skills: Utilize strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate lobbying efforts, manage advocacy campaigns, and track legislative developments. Prepare written materials, including policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy letters, to support government relations activities.Requirements: Knowledge and Experience: Ideal candidates will have knowledge of and experience in sports and entertainment, advertising and marketing, and environmental policy. Prior experience in government relations or public affairs is preferred but not required. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for effectively conveying the company's message to policymakers and stakeholders. The ability to articulate complex issues clearly and persuasively is critical. Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate the ability to work well with a broad range of people and entities, including government officials, industry partners, and advocacy groups. Build consensus and navigate complex relationships to achieve common goals.
