The goal of the Storer Services SkillBridge program is to leverage the Service Member’s (SM) proven organizational, technical, and leadership skills while providing comprehensive training in civilian HVAC service operations and business administration.Upon successful completion of this 180-day program, the SM will be prepared for a full-time role as a Field Operations Coordinator or Technical Dispatch Specialist at Storer Services.
1. Master HVAC dispatch, work order management, and customer service protocols.2. Understand preventative maintenance (PM) contracts and service agreement lifecycle management.3. Demonstrate foundational knowledge of commercial/industrial HVAC system components and troubleshooting.4. Apply military logistics and maintenance tracking principles to civilian fleet and inventory management.

Training Plan Structure (180 Days)The program is broken down into four phases.Phase 1: Operational Onboarding and Company Administration (Days 1–45)Focus Area Training Activities Military Skill TranslationA. Company Operations Overview of Storer Services structure, safety standards, and administrative procedures (HR, payroll). Understanding organizational hierarchy and adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs).B. Customer Service & Dispatch Training on ERP and business operations software (e.g., dedicated service software) for logging and tracking service calls and contract management. SM will shadow dispatch team. Clear communication, information logging, and mission tasking/prioritization.C. Logistics & Inventory Learn parts procurement, warehouse organization, fleet maintenance scheduling, and tool accountability protocols. Supply chain management, readiness reporting, and inventory control.D. Industry Basics Basic HVAC terminology, common commercial/industrial system types (split systems, chillers, boilers). Rapid assimilation of new technical lexicon.Phase 2: Technical Service Exposure (Days 46–90)Focus Area Training Activities Mentorship/EvaluationA. Field Shadowing (Level 1) Minimum 50 hours of ride-alongs with experienced technicians focusing on preventative maintenance checks and basic repairs. Mentorship by Senior HVAC Technician. Evaluation based on ability to properly document findings and safety compliance.B. Diagnostics Fundamentals Classroom and hands-on training covering electrical fundamentals, refrigeration cycle basics, and reading HVAC schematics/blueprints. Weekly quizzes on technical material demonstrated proficiency in identifying major components.C. Safety & Compliance Review of EPA regulations, OSHA safety standards, and refrigerant handling procedures. Certification of completion for Storer Services safety course.D. Final Outcome Efficient in all Field Operation Coordinator duties, i.e. dispatching, service calls, contract management, territories; experience in service quotes and job exposure for Apprenticeship Program Phase 3: Project Management & Coordination (Days 91–135)Focus Area Training Activities Small Service ProjectA. Work Order Lifecycle Full responsibility (with supervision) for managing the intake, scheduling, dispatch, and closing of 10-15 live work orders. Assigned a dedicated mentor (Operations Manager) to track efficiency metrics and successful completion rate.B. Proposal & Estimates Learn how to interpret technician notes and labor estimates to assist in drafting service proposals for commercial/industrial clients. Contribute to the drafting of at least three live client quotes.C. Advanced Logistics Learn customer billing, mobile tech usage and troubleshooting, along with equipment setup, contract setup, logs and inspections. SM leads the project; presents final plan to management.Phase 4: Integration and Final Assessment (Days 136–180)Focus Area Training Activities Final Assessment/Hiring PipelineA. Full Role Integration SM operates in a semi-autonomous capacity, managing a full-time workload equivalent to the target civilian position (e.g., running the daily dispatch board). Weekly 1-on-1 performance reviews assessing critical decision-making and problem-solving skills.B. Interview Preparation Final weeks dedicated to professional development, including resume translation (military to civilian) and mock interviews. Successful development of a polished civilian resume and completion of three mock interviews.C. Final Project/Brief Deliver a final brief to the Storer Services leadership team on an area for improvement identified during the program (e.g., route efficiency, customer feedback management). Successful presentation and documented post-program employment offer.III. Supervision and ResourcesResource ResponsibilityProgram Manager (HR/Hiring) Overall compliance with the MOU, administrative documentation, and final hiring decision.Operations Manager (Mentor) Day-to-day oversight, assignment of tasks, weekly check-ins, and performance evaluation.Senior Field Technician Direct technical mentorship during Phase 2 field shadowing; ensuring safety and hands-on learning.Facilities/Tools Dedicated desk space, computer, access to all required software (CRM, dispatch, inventory), and necessary safety gear.Storer Services is committed to achieving the DOD-mandated High Probability of Employment) for successful SkillBridge participants.
