Elevator Inspector Trainee – SkillBridge InternshipAs an Elevator Inspector Trainee, you will receive full training during your SkillBridge internship to become a certified elevator inspector. You’ll gain hands-on experience inspecting elevators, escalators, moving walks, and other vertical transportation systems, including new construction, modernization, repairs, and daily operations.Working alongside certified inspectors, you will:• Learn to perform inspections that ensure compliance with safety codes and standards. • Verify that installation, repair, and operational work meets codes, drawings, plans, and specifications. • Develop technical skills in a regulated, safety-focused environment. The internship concludes with the Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) exam, provided by QEI Services, Inc., an ANSI-accredited certification body.

Environment:• Mostly field work, with limited office time. • Daily hands-on experience with real equipment under expert guidance. Salary Range (after certification): $70k – $150k (depending on location).
The ideal candidate has a military background in technical maintenance and systems operations, especially with direct experience in elevators and mechanical/electrical systems. Relevant MOCs include Shipboard Elevator Mechanical Maintenance (743B), Shipboard Elevator Electrical Maintenance (764A), Shipboard Elevator Hydraulic/Mechanical System Mechanic (4296), and Shipboard Elevator Electronic/Electrical Systems Maintenance Tech (4671), demonstrating hands-on work with elevator systems, hydraulics, electrical circuitry, and safety-critical inspections in complex, regulated environments. Candidates with Electrical Systems Technician (3302, 3699) or NAMTS Hydraulics Repair (761A) experience bring complementary expertise in electrical and hydraulic systems, which is directly applicable to elevator inspection, troubleshooting, and compliance verification.In short, we’re seeking military personnel with either direct shipboard elevator maintenance experience or strong technical experience in mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems within safety-critical environments.
