The incumbent is responsible for supporting USSS protective operations by operating variousradar and air surveillance detection systems with the purpose of identifying and tracking potentialairborne threats.Oversee and monitor air traffic, within the National Airspace System (NAS), utilizing a remoteintegrated display involving both primary and secondary radar data. Utilizes sophisticated,computerized radar data (speed, bearing, range and altitude) and interprets such data sets inorder to provide real time situational awareness to USSS decision makers.Primary detection duties take place in the National Capital Region on a 24-hour, seven days aweek basis. Additionally, duties may require travel to support air security operations,domestically and internationally, based on the operational demands of the agency.
The USSS is a major law enforcement agency composed of the Headquarters staff inWashington, D.C., protective divisions in Washington, D.C. and various other parts of the nation,the USSS Uniformed Division, and over 150 field installations located in the U.S. as well asoverseas. This worldwide organization is comprised of criminal investigation, protective,administrative, professional, technical, and other support personnel. The major responsibilitiesof the U.S. Secret Service are defined in Section 3056, Title 18, United States Code.
This position is in person, within the Washington DC National Capital Region.
