The Skillbridge intern will be trained to align with the specific needs of the organization as a contract specialist within Resonant Sciences (RS) with the primary goal of exposing the intern to contracting in the private sector. This program will provide hands-on experience which includes RS product and service overview, professional development, customer communications, and core contracting processes and responsibilities.
Basic Qualifications• Minimum of 2 years of experience with Government Contracts• Experience with FAR/DFARS and other U.S. Federal Government contracting regulations• Experience with various contract types including Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Cost Reimbursable, and Time and Material contracts• US citizenship is required• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearancePreferred Qualifications• Recent experience as a Contracting professional• Experience contracting with the Department of Defense and Civilian Agencies• Active DoD security clearance• Proficient in daily use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Duties and Responsibilities:The Contract Specialist serves as a key contributor in proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract closeout, and all other facets of customer contracting. Work with the Contracts Manager and Program team to ensure quick, thorough, and accurate contractual matters are completed within tight timelines.The selected Contracts Specialist will have responsibility for the following areas:• Provide coordination with other departments as necessary in the preparation of responses to customer correspondence and other requests.• Maintain close, professional interface with internal and external customer personnel (technical, administrative, and business).• Review RFP requirements for contract risk, recommend appropriate exceptions and/or fallback positions accordingly for leadership for review.• Develop, in conjunction with the Program Manager, written negotiation strategies for all new awards and contract change activity.• In conjunction with Contracts Manager reviews all assigned bids, proposals and contracts, including changes, modifications and amendments thereto, prior to negotiation and execution to ensure that they are complete, responsive and correct in all aspects.• Work the required subcontracts and Purchase Orders for all assigned contract actions, including tracking contract requirements, deliverables, due dates, and administrative requirements.• Submit for review NDA, Teaming Agreements, etc. associated with assigned business area.• Maintain awards log - responsible for accuracy of contract awards and validation of loading awards in appropriate trackers.• Work closely in assisting the Contracts Managers and Program Managers in tracking progress, proposals, awards, invoices, schedules, and configuration management control.• Develop and maintain working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) and all other customer specific procurement rules and regulations.• Perform other duties, as assigned.
