As a cable installation technician, you will install and manage cable infrastructure (CAT5/E, CAT6), route cables to IT closets, modular furniture, and work areas, and set up cable pathways like J-hooks, D-rings, and trays. You’ll handle cable management tasks such as dressing, labeling, and termination (Jacks, Keystones, RJ-45). Responsibilities also include installing Wireless Access Points (WAP), reading blueprints, and maintaining clear communication with colleagues and management. You will follow safety guidelines, perform preventive maintenance, test cables, and troubleshoot issues. The role requires working in various environments, including outdoors, at heights, and in confined spaces, while operating hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.

ABOUT THE JOB

Duties and Responsibilities• Installation of cable infrastructure (CAT5/E and CAT6).• Dress and route cable into IT closets, modular furniture, and other work area outlets.• Cable pathway installation (J-hooks, D-rings, cable trays, and ladder racks).• Cable management (dressing, labeling).• Cable termination (Jacks, Keystones, RJ-45/Modular Plug).• WAP installation (Wireless Access Point)• Read and follow blueprints set for installation.• Follow written and oral communication displaying professionalism with colleagues and management.• Follow safety guidelines and protocols (Proper PPE, clean up jobsite, OSHA)• Perform major and minor preventive maintenance and repairs by troubleshootingcabling system issues• Test every newly installed or relocated cable in accordance with established procedures• Be able to work in various environments including outdoors in varying degrees ofweather working at heights, and in small, confined spaces.• Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and test equipmentQualificationsThe ideal candidate will satisfy the following requirements and qualifications:• High School Diploma or equivalent• 0-2 years of commercial structured cabling, low voltage, or data cable installationexperience.• Tools: Basic Hand Tools: screwdriver (multi-Bit), tape measure, snips, pliers (needle noseand channel locks), cable stripper, punch down tool, flashlight, work boots (steel toe orcomposite toe) gloves and tool pouch.• Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation• Must be able to pass drug and background screen• BICIS preferred• Manufacturer training preferred• OSHA preferredPhysical demands:• Physical Requirement: Must be able to work on a ladder and/or scissor lift. Work in confined spaces, can lift up to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds. Ability to work on your feet for entire shift.
