Divergent Technologies is proud to offer a DoD SkillBridge internship for transitioning service members in the role of Service & Maintenance Specialist / Service Manager Intern. This program provides a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in a production and advanced manufacturing environment.The Maintenance and Service Team exists to ensure the operational reliability and efficiency of all advanced manufacturing equipment — including additive manufacturing machines, CNC systems, and robotics — within Divergent’s aerospace production facility. The team’s mission is to minimize downtime, maintain safety compliance, and support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.Training Duration: 61 - 90 Days (flexible based on availability). This internship is designed to support development across both technical specialist and entry-level leadership responsibilities.The Service & Maintenance Specialist / Service Manager Intern contributes to the continuous, safe, and cost-efficient operation of Divergent’s highly technical manufacturing systems.Participants will gain hands-on experience in:Equipment maintenance and troubleshootingPreventive and corrective maintenance executionService coordination and workflow managementSupporting production uptime and operational efficiencyExposure to team leadership, planning, and performance trackingKey Responsibilities include: Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs on advanced manufacturing equipmentAssist in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and systems-related issuesSupport preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliabilityDocument maintenance activities and equipment performance dataCollaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve equipment issuesSupport scheduling and coordination of maintenance and service activitiesAssist in tracking equipment uptime, downtime, and service metricsHelp prioritize service requests to align with production needsContribute to continuous improvement initiatives for equipment performance and reliabilityLeadership Exposure (Manager Track)Shadow and support maintenance leadership in daily operationsParticipate in planning and resource allocation discussionsAssist in ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standardsGain exposure to cost, efficiency, and performance management principlesThis role is critical because:Production throughput and quality depend on machine uptimeEquipment performance directly impacts production schedules, costs, and customer satisfactionThe position supports regulatory compliance and workplace safety, essential in aerospace manufacturingThe role contributes to continuous improvement and adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies

Candidate Qualifications (Preferred):Advanced mechanical & electrical troubleshooting (multimeters, oscilloscopes, PLC troubleshooting).CNC programming basics (G-code, M-code) and robot cell integration.Laser-based additive manufacturing knowledge (powder handling, safety, process parameters).Calibration of optics, temperature sensors, and motion systems per ISO standards.CMMS/ERP proficiency (asset tagging, work order creation, KPI reporting).Strong written & verbal communication; able to convert technical findings into clear action items.Proven problem-solving mindset; comfortable applying 5-Why, Fishbone, and RCCA techniques.Ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.Data-driven: experience with Excel, PowerBI, or similar for trend analysis and reporting.Familiarity with AS9100, IATF 16949, ISO 45001 compliance requirements.
