Hands-on Internship and training program to be a Service Technician for a Boiler Company with locations across Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina Richmond, Norfolk, Christianburg, Raleigh, Charlotte, Columbia, Charleston and upstate SC. They specialize in power plant, heating, mechanical contracting, and industrial products including packaged boilers, industrial burners, heat exchangers, and other boiler plant equipment for various applications. They provide new product sales, service, parts, technical support, testing, and training throughout Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.Participants will be trained and certified at no cost to be service technicians and there is headcount for immediate employment when complete.
ABOUT THE JOB
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Inspect equipment to identify and diagnose operational problemsPerform repairs, replace gaskets and miscellaneous controls & partsPerform annual maintenance inspectionsTroubleshoot and repair burners, all manufacturesInstall new low-emissions burnersRetrofit boiler controls, including PLC, microprocessor, and instrumentation component/systemsCommission, troubleshoot and adjust combustion on a variety of burners and boilersDocument parts required for replacement & repair and provide detailed written documentation outlining services renderedRequest materials needed to complete tasks within company guidelines and budgetsDrive to multiple locations and transport materials to and from specific destinations (vehicle provided)Submit electronic paperwork daily RequirementsA military mechanical or electrical backgroundStrong verbal and written communication skills; write routine reports and correspondence Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment Proficient use of technology, computers, and software including Microsoft Office suite of products Valid Driver’s License required. Must be insurable with no major infractionsJob requires daily verbal, written, and electronic communicationYou must always demonstrate excellent customer service skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect equipment to identify and diagnose operational problems
- Perform repairs, replace gaskets and miscellaneous controls & parts
- Perform annual maintenance inspections
- Troubleshoot and repair burners, all manufacturers
- Install new low-emissions burners
- Retrofit boiler controls, including PLC, microprocessor, and instrumentation component/systems
- Commission, troubleshoot and adjust combustion on a variety of burners and boilers
- Document parts required for replacement & repair and provide detailed written documentation outlining services rendered
- Request materials needed to complete tasks within company guidelines and budgets
- Drive to multiple locations and transport materials to and from specific destinations (vehicle provided)
- Submit electronic paperwork daily
QUALIFICATIONS
- A military mechanical or electrical background
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment
- Proficient use of technology, computers, and software including Microsoft Office suite of products
- Valid Driver’s License required. Must be insurable with no major infractions
- Job requires daily verbal, written, and electronic communication
- You must always demonstrate excellent customer service skills
